1. The biggest country in Europe
The area of the Ukraine is 603,700 square kilometers, which is equal to 5.7% of the area of Europe. The length of the Ukrainian border is 6,500 kilometers. Ukraine is divided into 24 regions (oblasts) and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The country has access to the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Our population is about 46 million people.
2. One of the oldest civilizations in the world
Trypillian culture is a late Neolithic archaeological culture that flourished between ca. 5500 BC and 2750 BC in the Dniester-Dnieper region of modern-day Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine. This culture has been called the first urban culture in Europe.
3. Orthodox center
The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is a historic Orthodox Christian monastery in Kyiv. Since its foundation as the cave monastery in 1015, the Lavra has been a pre-eminent center of Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe. Together with St. Sophia’s Cathedral, it is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Ukraine is famous for its churches, monasteries and cathedrals with their unique architecture and design. You will definitely love it!
4. Delicious cuisine
The dishes of our cuisine are well-known abroad. These are different flour wares (pampushky, dumplings, varenyky), dishes from meat (Ukrainian sausages, cold appetizers), vegetable and dairy products (ryazhenka, cheese pancakes), various drinks from fruit and honey. 5. Great history
Kyivan Rus, part of the Russian Empire, part of Austro-Hungarian Empire, part of the USSR, independent country, Orange Revolution – all of these facts had a deep influence on our modern life. We will try to give you the best view on the most interesting historical periods.
6. Beautiful nature
The Ukrainian landscape consists mostly of fertile plains and plateaus, crossed by rivers such as the Dnipro, Danube and others, as they flow south into the Black Sea and the smaller Sea of Azov. The country has the Carpathians in the west and the Crimean Mountains in the south. Ukraine has a mostly temperate continental climate.

The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as EURO 2012, will be the 14th European Championship for national football teams sanctioned by UEFA. Poland and Ukraine will be the host nations of the final tournament.
